L’inhumation aura à une date ultérieure. Sous la direction funéraire de J. A. Larin & Fils Inc. 317, rue Victoria, Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Qc. (450) 373-3636 www.jalarin.com.
La famille tient à remercier sincèrement le personnel du Centre Omega à Pierrefonds, où il bénéficiait d’un soutien pour vivre de manière autonome et était soigné par l’équipe formidable qui y travaillait.
Al left us after a brief illness to join his beloved mother and father, Louise and Alfred and his younger sister Carol in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. He survived by his sister Elizabeth, his aunt Mary (Bowman), cousins Karen and Robert Bowman, and a multitude of cousins on the Joyce side of the family.
In his youth AI loved sports, fishing at the Back River, rock n’ roll at the Mapes, and motorcycles… the faster the better. After being knocked off his bike too many times by distracted drivers, he switched over to old cars with very big engines to indulge his need for speed.
The path of his life was forever altered when Al began facing severe mental health challenges in his early 20s. With the unwavering love, support and guidance of the best parents in the world, and through his own strength of character, he ultimately found equilibrium and peace.
He was courageous, optimistic, good humoured, and never complained about the straw he had drawn. He carved out a simple and satisfying life for himself and for many years lived at the centre Omega in Pierrefonds where he was supported in independent living and cared for by the wonderful staff there. My family’s gratitude for their services is immeasurable. In lieu of a wake or formal memorial, a celebration of his life luncheon will be held for the residents at Omega next week.
