With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Margaret Murphy (née Girard), at the age of 97 on February 26, 2025.
Margaret was a devoted and loving mother to Raymond, Helen, John, and Joanne, who will forever cherish her kindness and unwavering love. She was also a beloved mother-in-law to Barbara, Douglas, and Gary, and a proud grandmother to Liam and Quinn. Her sister Ella, along with many extended family members and dear friends, will miss her deeply.
She now joins her beloved husband, Michael (who passed in 1979), and her precious daughter, Florence (who passed in 1961).
Born in Barachois, Gaspé, Margaret was one of seven children. Her father, John, was a fisherman and carpenter, while her mother, Winifred, dedicated herself to their home.
In the 1950s, Margaret moved to Montreal in search of new opportunities. It was there that she met Michael, originally from Carbonear, Newfoundland. They married in 1956, building a life together filled with love, family, and resilience.
Margaret’s warmth, strength, and gentle spirit will remain in our hearts forever.

Deepest condolences and love to Joanne, Helen, John, Ray and their families at the passing of Mrs. Murphy. Having spent a good percentage of my teenaged years in the basement on Black Street, I have many fond memories of Mrs. Murphy who was always welcoming and mostly patient with us. :)
I hope that you will find comfort in the knowledge that your kindness and care enabled your Mom to live her final years in her own home. What an extraordinary gift you gave her.
Hugs and love to the whole extended Murphy clan.
Janice xoxo
